The film, which is based on the Emmy-winning show, will air exclusively on The Roku Channel later this year. No official premiere date has been announced, but production on the TV movie is set to begin next week.

“It’s a transcendent show, it’s something that connects with people across the country,” Colin Davis, head of original scripted programming at Roku said via Variety. “That connection with the audience is what makes bringing a holiday-themed film like ‘Zoey’ to life with the original cast so special.”

According to Davis, the decision to make it into a movie instead of more episodes was to get the revival to audiences as quickly as possible.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was canceled by NBC in June after two seasons and it earned five Emmy nominations this year, making it the second-most for any primetime broadcast show. Last year it won an Emmy for outstanding choreography for scripted programming and Jane Levy earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Returning for the film are Levy, Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, Andrew Leeds, Alice Lee, Michael Thomas Grant, Kapil Talwalkar, David St. Louis, Mary Steenburgen, Peter Gallagher, and Bernadette Peters.

According to TVLine, Lauren Graham has joined the cast of NBC’s forthcoming dramedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist as a series regular. 

The show follows Zoey Clarke, played by Jane Levy, “a 20-something computer coder in San Francisco who, after an unusual event, can hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her, expressed through song.”

Graham is set to play Zoey’s boss, originally played by Carmen Cusack in the pilot. 

Also starring is Skylar Astin, Peter Gallagher, Mary Steenburgen, Alex Newell, and John Clarence Stewart.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is set to premiere on NBC in the midseason.
