“Over four seasons, The Royals took viewers behind the palace gates on a scandalous journey filled with twists and turns. We are grateful to the cast and our producing partners at Lionsgate and Universal Cable Productions.”
If you were a hardcore fan of the show, don’t worry. There is still hope that it might find a new life on some other network. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Royals‘ production company Lionsgate is trying to negotiate a deal with cable outlet Pop to renew the series for season five.
The Royals premiered in 2015 to strong ratings, averaging more than one million viewers through the first season. The ratings have been gradually worse with each new season, with just 520,000 people tuning in for season four finale. The main cast of the series included Elizabeth Hurley, William Moseley, Alexandra Park, Jake Maskall, Tom Austen and Oliver Milburn, among others.
