Terminator’ star Linda Hamilton isn’t a fan of the movie’s sequels past 1992’s Judgment Day. If you ask her, the past three – Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, and Terminator Genisys – are “very forgettable.”

Hamilton recently made an appearance at CinemaCon in order to promote Terminator: Dark Fate, the sixth installment in Terminator film franchise, which marks her return to the series after 25 years. During the panel she offered her opinion on the movies that came after Judgment Day and didn’t hold anything back.

“They’re very forgettable, aren’t they?” said Hamilton. “You start something, and you’re invested in the franchise, but somehow the characters that you care about weren’t there. Too many people, too many story points. So, I think we’ve done a good job of narrowing down the focus again, so it will echo the first two films.”

Hamilton also added that she wasn’t all that interested in returning to the franchise at first but was convinced by Terminator creator James Cameroon.

“I gave it probably six weeks of intense thinking and consideration before deciding to do it,” she explained. “I wasn’t sure if I wanted to. I didn’t want it to look like a shameless money grab. I am living this quiet, lovely life that doesn’t involve being a celebrity, and you really have to think, do I really want to trade that in again for another 15 minutes?”

Terminator: Dark Fate, which is set for release on November 1, 2019, will ignore the previous three movies in the series and serve as a direct sequel to Judgment Day. Although Cameroon, who directed the original and the first sequel, handed over the directorial duties to Tim Miller, he still was heavily involved in the story and filming while also serving as an executive producer.

The sixth installment of the Terminator franchise was initially scheduled to be released July 2019, but it will now make its box office debut on November 22nd 2019, according to an announcement by Paramount.

Many have speculated that the delay must be a result of Arnold Shwarzennegger’s recent open-surgery, but Paramount have insisted this was not the case. They claim the decision to delay the release of Terminator 6 was actually made months ago, although they did not give the actual reason for the delay. Movieweb has guessed the delay is most likely a result of script alterations being made as filming was expected to begin this summer, but it appears filming too has been pushed back.

The movie will be directed by Deadpool’s Tim Miller and will star Black Mirror’s Mackenzie Davis. Shwarzenegger will reunite with costar Linda Hamilton aka Sarah Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).

In 2018, James Cameron revealed that the sixth installment will be a “continuation of the story from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2.” The director even joked that they’re pretending the movies in between were a “bad dream” and that the new movie will be a direct sequel from Terminator 2.
