After 17 years, we finally got a sequel to Broken Lizard’s cult comedy Super Troopers. Now, some may tell you that too much time has passed and that Super Troopers 2 isn’t a movie worth your time. Don’t listen to them!

Super Troopers 2 was already interesting for many due to the fact that fans financed the filming of the movie via a crowdfunding campaign. This was a movie made for fans and because the fans asked for it. So, to do a compelling review, you have to take this into consideration.

If you liked the first movie, you’ll love the sequel; simple as that. Jokes are childish, crude and might not be the most original, but you’ll laugh anyway. That is the type of humor Broken Lizard is known for and delivers in tons in Super Troopers 2 as well.

Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske once again excel in their roles, and it is evident that they like these characters as much as the fans. Heffernan is especially great as Farva, and makes you love to hate this character even more.

The same couldn’t be said for the rest of the cast, who is unconvincing to say at least. It looks like the Broken Lizard comedy team put too much emphasis on their characters that they forgot to work out the more delicate details. Also, the jokes sometimes seem forced and don’t come naturally, which spoils the dynamic of the movie. Finally, the guys could have done better in figuring out the premise for Super Troopers 2, or at least deliver the original one with more enthusiasm.

To sum everything, Super Troopers 2 isn’t as bad as people want you to believe. It just isn’t a movie for everyone’s taste. If you like elaborate jokes and comedies with underlining stories that hide some more significant meaning, then no, this isn’t a movie for you. But if you love crude humor and seeing guys getting electrocuted, then this is just the right stuff.

John Krasinski’s new thriller A Quiet Place has earned No. 1 spot in the US box office for its third weekend.

The movie follows a family of four who must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious alien creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival. Emily Blunt stars alongside Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cade Woodward and Leon Russom. The movie has grossed $116 million through Friday, $56 million of which is from foreign markets.

In second place is last weekend’s no. 1 Rampage starring Dwayne Johnson. It grossed $18 million this weekend, putting it just $2 million behind A Quiet Place. The movie follows a scientist who much join forces with his gorilla in order to take on two other giant monsters. The movie has earned $187 million globally so far and topped A Quiet Place last weekend at the box office.

Third place is likely to be Amy Schumer’s latest movie I Feel Pretty. The movie has received abysmal ratings on Rotten Tomatoes but is popular with a younger audience. Super Troopers 2 is also predicted to do well given its huge fan following.
