Get ready to say goodbye to two Trekverse characters.

According to multiple reports, Star Trek: Discovery is slimming down at the end of Season Two with both Anson Mount and Rebecca Romijn set to exit the series.

Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike and Romijn, who plays Pike’s shipmate Number One both joined the CBS All Access drama at the beginning of the season, will leave it at its end. According to Deadline, the actors’ exit comes as no surprise as the tow had inked one-year deals and contracted for Season 2 arcs.

Star Trek: Discovery is currently nine episodes into its second season with five more to go. It was for an additional and third season just last month with co-executive producer Michelle Paradise joining Alex Kurtzman as co-showrunner.

New episodes of Star Trek: Discovery debut every Thursday via CBS All Access.

Ethan Peck has been cast as Spock in the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery.

Executive producer Alex Kurtzman confirmed at Comic-Con earlier this summer that Spock would indeed be returning in season two of Star Trek: Discovery. The question on everyone’s mind has been who will take on the legendary role.

“Through 52 years of television and film, a parallel universe and a mirror universe, Mr. Spock remains the only member of the original bridge crew to span every era of Star Trek,” Kurtzman said.

“The great Leonard Nimoy, then the brilliant Zachary Quinto, brought incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion. We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning.”

He continued: “Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”

The second season of Star Trek Discovery will premiere in 2019.

Alex Kurtzman has renewed his deal with CBS Television Studios.

The executive producer of Star Trek: Discovery has signed a five-year extension with the studio. The new contract entails Kurtzman as the sole showrunner of the sci-fi series.

Kurtzman is also set to expand the Star Trek franchise. He will be developing a new series, miniseries as well as animated content and other projects.

“There is a very short list of writer-producer-directors that every film and television studio wants to be associated with, and Alex and his Secret Hideout team are always at the top,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Television Studios in a statement.

“His talent, taste and ability to shepherd a successful project is unparalleled. Alex has done remarkable work for our Studio, dating back seven years to the launch of Hawaii Five-O, and we are thrilled that he, Heather and their team will be partnering with us for a long time to come.”

Rumors are also circulating that Patrick Stewart might potentially reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard in another Star Trek series. CBS have declined confirming the rumor, although the actor has recently teased his potential return to the franchise. Talking with Red Carpet News TV, he said that he had not seen Star Trek: Discovery yet, but he “may have good cause to look at it very soon.”
