]]>The only two movies that the latest Spider-Man failed to surpass also hail from MCU—Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The film’s worldwide total consists of $253 million grossed in the United States and Canada and $334.2 million in other territories.
Tom Rothman, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures, said they’re deeply grateful to the fabulous talent that produced such a landmark film.
“This weekend’s historic Spider-Man: No Way Home results, from all over the world and in the face of many challenges, reaffirm the unmatched cultural impact that exclusive theatrical films can have when they are made and marketed with vision and resolve,” said Rothman in a statement.
Spider-Man: No Way Home had its worldwide premiere on December 17th, and it saw Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei return to their roles from the previous Spider-Man movies. It also stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and it effectively introduced the concept of the multiverse by bringing back some of the characters who appeared in the previous installments of the Spider-Man film series.

The multiverse brings together previous villains in the Spider-Man cinematic franchises including Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.
Jon Watts will be returning as director for the third installment in the series. Reprising their roles in the movie are Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan.
