]]> While the fans are still expecting to see how season three of drama Queen Sugar will unfold, the Oprah Winfrey Network has already decided to give the Ava Duvernay-created series a renewal for season four. The new season, which will premiere in 2019, will also have a new showrunner. Kat Candler will be replaced by Queen Sugar’s writer and co-executive producer Anthony Sparks.

Season three of this acclaimed drama will wrap up on August 22nd, with a 90-minute finale.

“Under Ava’s creative vision and leadership, Queen Sugar continues to earn a well-deserved reputation for depicting nuanced characters, rich storylines and establishing an inclusive team that inspires and ignites much needed conversations about our society today,” said OWN president Erik Logan in a statement. “We are very proud of this show, the incredible cast, producers and crew, and can’t wait for more of the Bordelon family in season four.”

Based on the novel of the same name by Natalie Baszile, Queen Sugar premiered on OWN in 2016 and immediately became one of the network’s most-watched programs. It has also received glowing reviews from the critics for all previous three seasons. The series’ cast includes Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Kofi Siriboe, Tina Lifford, Omar Dorsey, and Dondre Whitfield among others.
