Ever since the Modern Family began its shooting, all actors have agreed that no one would ever become a leading role. This is probably the reason why the chemistry between them is so great.
Nolan Gould is very convincing in portraying the not-so-bright Luke. But in reality, he is a certified genius who has been a member of Mensa, the high IQ society, since the age of 4.
Creators of the show almost created an anime version of Modern Family. Reason for this is that they worried the regular show would not be appealing to children.
All of the family members are constant in the show. Dylan, Hailey’s on and off boyfriend, is the only character that is not part of the family but appeared in every season so far.
When Julie Bowen applied for the role of Claire, she was pregnant with her twins and worried she’d miss an opportunity of a lifetime. But she got the role, and her belly was hidden behind props in several episodes prior to her labor.
The Dunphy house was empty for the first few seasons and the studio regularly took exterior shots of it. When the home was eventually sold, the studio had to pay a fee to the owners of the house whenever they needed another shot.
Craig T. Nelson was initially offered the role of Jay, but luckily for us, he turned it down. Ed O’Neill took the job instead and delivered the role masterfully.
