]]>Johnson shared the amazing news during Disney’s annual shareholder meeting led by CEO Bob Iger and recorded a sweet message in Hawaii alongside his daughters. The actor said he’s “deeply humbled and overcome with gratitude to bring the beautiful story of Moana to the live-action big screen.”
In addition to reprising the role of Maui, the exiled shapeshifting demigod who helped Moana find her way on her journey of self-discovery and reflection, Johnson will also executive produce the upcoming live-action remake. Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana, is also coming on board as executive producer.
The live-action Moana was announced shortly after Disney started plotting new versions of The Aristocats and Lilo & Stitch. The studio has about a dozen live-action remakes in development, including the highly-anticipated The Little Mermaid later this spring.
“It’s still early, but the idea of working with these fantastic partners to tell such a meaningful story on a live-action canvas, particularly as we celebrate 100 years of storytelling at Disney, is thrilling,” said Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production

]]>Whether you are in the village harvesting coconuts or out at sea trying to find a new paradise, is it your community that bring you home. Your parents, your crazy grandma, your demi-God best friend or even your stupid chicken.
Everything you need is right there in front of you. Food from the soil and shelter from the trees and your own two feet. Your environment will nurture you so long as you treat it kindly.
You won’t know how far you’ll go until you take the leap. Be brave. How are you going to cross the ocean if you’re too afraid to lose sight of the shore?
Let your instincts guide you. Be open. Finding who you are takes practice, time, some challenging conquests and many, many rough storms. It’s just about learning how to get your boat sailing again when you fail.
You do not need a superpower to morph into what you want. Although having a giant shark head could be cool. You just need a bit of resilience and to believe that you really can do anything if you put your heart into it.
