Back in 2004, Zach Braff wrote and directed this comedy drama featuring himself as a quietly troubled young man who returns home for his mother's funeral after being estranged from his family for a decade. Braff has crafted a genuinely quirky comedy here that gets better with every watch. Peter Sarsgaard and Natalie Portman are excellent along with Braff in painting a truly heartwarming tale of people who need a little help and a lot of love too. The comedic touches keep Garden State from being a straight downer and the soundtrack is excellent. Garden State is always worth revisiting.
