Aladdin 2 is officially happening!

Multiple outlets confirm that an Aladdin sequel is in the works at Disney.

After the reboot’s success comes a follow-up film that will grant you some more wishes. Despite being in very early development, it is known that Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced the original, will be back producing through their Rideback banner, with Ryan Halprin executive producing.

It is unknown if director Guy Ritchie is attached to direct, and offers to reboot stars — Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott — won’t be extended until the script is done.

The 2019 live-action adaptation was a massive hit, becoming the fourth film to cross the billion-dollar global box office milestone.

The Oscar-winner is in talks to star in Cruella. Should she join the project she’ll star opposite Emma Stone, who has been set to play Cruella De Vil, the villain of the animated classic. The character was previously portrayed by Glenn Close in the 1996 live-action film produced by John Hughes.

It is currently unknown what role Thompson would be playing.

I, Tonya‘s Craig Gillespie is directing from a script penned by Tony McNamara, who reworked the most recent version of the screenplay with Dana Fox.

The first full trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King is finally here.

Despite being a brief trailer, that is less than two minutes long, we can now all rest assured that the remake is a very realistic nearly almost shot-by-shot take on the classic 1994 animated film (because who would want it any other way)?

The film, directed by Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book), features a star-studded cast to bring back Simba to the big screen. The voices include Donald Glover (Simba), Beyoncé (Nala), Seth Rogan (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), John Oliver (Zazu), and James Earl Jones (returning to voice Mufasa).

The trailer features scenes from Simba’s birth and the African savannah, Simba, and Nala exploring the elephant graveyard, Simba’s exile at the encouragement of his uncle Scar and a glimpse of Simba, Pumbaa and Timon singing together.

The Lion King joins a number of Disney classics that got the live-action treatment including The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and most recently Dumbo. The next Disney live-action remake to hit theaters is Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin.
