The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, September 19 with Cedric the Entertainer hosting and The Crown, Ted Lasso, and The Queen’s Gambit were the big winners of the night.

The Crown won seven awards, which was the most of any show. The series won for all of the categories it was nominated in including Outstanding Drama Series and awards for actors Olivia Colman, Josh O’Connor, Gillian Anderson, Tobias Menzies, as well as writing (Peter Morgan) and directing (Jessica Hobbs). 

Ted Lasso won four awards including Outstanding Comedy Series and awards for actors Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein.

The Queen’s Gambit won two for Outstanding Limited Series and Outstanding Directing.

Hacks and Mare of Easttown were also big winners of the night, with Jean Smart winning for the former in the acting category and the show also going home with writing and directing for a comedy trophies. Mare of Easttown picked up three awards for the acting categories for Kate Winslet, Evan Peters, and Julianna Nicholson.
