Based on the 2005 feature film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith centers on a married couple of rival spies. The new TV version was co-created by Francesca Sloane, who worked with Glover on Atlanta, and it’s expected to premiere on Amazon in 2022.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, described Waller-Bridge and Glover as two of the most talented creators and performers working right now and said they’re a true dream team that perfectly fits into the world of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

“It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe, and Francesca make it their own,” said Salke in a statement.

The original movie was based on a script by Simon Kinberg and directed by Doug Liman. It was a huge commercial hit, with $487 million grossed worldwide.

Amazon decided to make Guava Island available for free on their streaming platform for 18 hours from the moment the movie gets a launch at 12:01 am on April 13th. The film will also be streamed on Twitch.

Guava Island premiered at this year’s Coachella following the performance of Donald Glover’s music persona Childish Gambino at the festival’s main stage. The movie is directed by Glover’s frequent collaborator Hiro Murai and written by the actor’s brother Stephen Glover.

Vanity Fair describes the film as a “music-driven hour-long film” while the recent report suggests that the movie revolves around a local musician (Glover) who is determined to throw a festival.
