Doom Patrol has been renewed for a second season and will be available to stream on two streaming platforms.

News of the series renewal was confirmed by writer and executive producer Jeremey Carver at San-Diego Comic-Con on Saturday evening.

The series is a reimagining of DC’s strangest group of outcast superheroes. Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Matt Bomer/Matthew Zuk), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) led by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder (Timothy Dalton) suffered horrid accidents that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them disfigured.

According to Variety, Doom Patrol has been the most well-received DC Universe series to date with season 1 scoring a 95% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It will be available to stream on two platforms — DC Universe as well as HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service.

If you’re a fan of TV shows from the DC Universe, you’re in luck, because the CW just dropped trailers for all of its returning Arrowverse shows at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego.

Check them out below along with some tidbits of information about the new seasons for each show from the Comic Con panels!

Arrow

With Oliver Queen now in prison with many of the bad guys he had a hand in putting away as the Arrow, actor Stephen Amell promises that at the beginning of the season “there’s nothing about him that’s heroic, at all.”

“There’s one scene in particular in the premiere [in which] what Oliver does is kind of reprehensible, and that’s interesting,” Amell teased.

Actor Colton Haynes, who plays Roy, praised new showrunner Beth Schwartz: “It’s the best spin that’s been put on the show since the show started. Having the female energy and female directors and female characters [feels] really special.”

The Flash

“There’ll be a lot of deaths this season,” executive producer Todd Helbing told the fans at The Flash panel on Saturday.

He also discussed the big bad of the new season, Cicada, played by Chris Klein (American Pie). Helbing said unlike in the comics, Cicada is “not so much a cult leader,” but “his powers present a challenge for Team Flash that they’ve never had to deal with before.”

And fans of Tom Cavanaugh have a reason to rejoice, as we will once again get a new portrayal of Wells from him: Sherloque Wells, who is “a very intelligent human being who is maybe not to be trusted,” according to Cavanaugh.

Supergirl

While much of the last season of Supergirl was spent on the question of how to balance Kara Danvers and Supergirl and who Kara wanted to be more, featuring actress Melissa Benoist more in her blue spandex suit than out of it, it seems like the new season will bring back Kara the journalist.

“Kara Danvers the reporter is going to be as big of a hero this season as Supergirl,” according to executive producer Jessica Queller.

“Last year, we were in outer space a lot. This year, we wanted to make the show a little more grounded. We wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the things that are happening in our world,” EP Robert Rovner explained.

The show will also feature a new character, Nia, the first-ever transgender superhero on TV. Actress Nicole Maines describes her as “so wide-eyed” and “so pure.”

“She’s worked for Cat Grant in Washington, D.C., and she’s been sent to National City,” where Kara takes her under her wing as both a reporter and superhero. “She has this ferocious drive to protect and to fight against discrimination. She’s the superhero we need right now.”

Legends of Tomorrow

The Legends will see several big changes this year, as neither Firestorm nor Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) are coming back following the death of Professor Stein (Victor Garber), who is one half of Firestorm, and the decision of the other half, Jefferson (Franz Drameh) to go off on his own.

The good news is that Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who played Amaya, will be coming back, but as a new character named Charlie who slipped through the portal opened at the finale of last season.

Black Lightning

And a bonus trailer which is not part of the Arrowverse, but part of the DC Universe superhero lineup on the CW, Black Lightning!
