]]>Initially billed as a limited series, but picked up for a second season in December 2018, it looks like Season 2 of HBO’s acclaimed drama will be its last.
Here’s what we learned from the show’s Television Critics Association press tour Friday — while nothing is set in stone, creator and executive producer David E. Kelley did say that “There’s no such plan now,” for additional seasons. He continued: “It’s one and two, and we like our closure with season two, but that will probably be it.”
Nicole Kidman, star and executive producer added, “There’s no plan for it to end, specifically. This was a long shoot for us, and it was an enormous amount of work… it is [Season 3] its own entity and hopefully it will be taken that way. It was definitely made with an enormous amount of love.”
Big Little Lies Season is based on a novel by Liane Moriarty. The series won eight Emmys for its first season including Outstanding Limited Series. The series stars Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Kidman.
Big Little Lies is set to return in June.
