The post The Biggest Winners of the 2021 SAG Awards appeared first on Entertainment For Us.
]]>This year’s SAG Awards were quite historic because the four acting awards in the movie categories went to POC for the first time ever. The list of winners included Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom leads Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), and Youn Yuh-jung (Minari).
Michael Keaton wasn’t in the running for any individual awards this season, but he still managed to make history at the SAG Awards. After picking up the trophy for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture with his The Trial of the Chicago 7 co-stars, he became the first actor to win in this category three times. This win improved Chicago 7’s Oscar chances, but it will still have a tough competition in Minari and Nomadland.
The Crown and Schitt’s Creek dominated the television field at this year’s SAG Awards, but it’s safe to say that the triumph of the first show is a much bigger deal. Unlike Schitt’s Creek, Netflix’s royal drama will be in the running at the upcoming Emmys and its SAG victories solidify its status as a major front-runner.

]]>Chloé Zhao’s Historic Win
Chloé Zhao made history as the second woman to ever win the best director Golden Globe with Nomadland, and it’s highly likely she’ll repeat the same success at the Oscars.
Andra Day’s Upset
Andra Day managed to beat the likes of Viola Davis and Frances McDormand thanks to her glorious performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday and her Oscar chances are stronger than ever.
Chadwick Boseman’s Triumph
By this point in time, Chadwick Boseman is pretty much a lock to win a posthumous Oscar for his brilliant portrayal in the final movie of his career, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Supporting Actor Shakeup
In a pretty competitive supporting actor and actress lineup, latecomers are leading the way. Daniel Kaluuya managed to pull an upset with his supporting turn in Judas and the Black Messiah, and so did Jodie Foster with her performance in The Mauritanian.
“The Crown” Supreme
Not all of the big moments of the night were that surprising, and that’s the case with the triumph of The Crown. Its big wins cemented its status as the top contender at the upcoming SAG Awards and Emmys.
