]]>The forthcoming new chapter in the Saw horror franchise, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, has been unveiled and it features Chris Rock as the lead with a supporting cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella.
The official description for Spiral reads: “Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Jackson), brash detective Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
The film’s being billed as the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw.
Spiral marks the ninth installment in the Saw franchise.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that Rock is officially on board the NBC comedy pilot starring Saving Kenan starring Kenan Thompson. Rock will direct the single-camera pilot about a newly widowed dad (Thompson) determined to be everything for his kids while begrudgingly letting his persistent father-in-law become more involved in their lives.
Rock and Thompson are both Saturday Night Live cast members, with Rock appearing on the show from 1990-93, a decade before Thompson joined in 2003.
Rock and Thompson will also executive produce the show written by Jackie Clarke. Should the pilot be picked up to series, Rock will continue to exec producer, and Thompson will most likely leave SNL as a full-time cast member.
This isn’t Rock’s first directing gig. According to Variety, he has previously directed the features Head of State, I Think I Love My Wife, and Top Five. He also directed projects for the small screen including Everybody Hates Chris and comedy special Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo.

]]>Sandler plays a middle-class father who is determined to pay for his daughters wedding, despite the insistence of the wealthier groom’s father, a surgeon played by Chris Rock, to pay for the wedding himself.
In the trailer, Sandler says: “every father looks forward to making a wedding for their little girl.” However due to limited finances, he has to also focus on saving money. When there is a leak in his cheap hotel, Sandler decides to host the wedding party in his crowded house rather than allow Rock to use his cash to save the day.
This will be Sandler’s fourth movie for Netflix after The Ridiculous Six, The Do-Over and Sandy Wexler. Sandler used to be a major draw card in the comedy business during the late 90’s and early 2000’s though his popularity has declined during recent years.
