]]>The Last of Us draws inspiration from the hit video game of the same name and follows the hardened survivor Joel (Pedro Pascal) and a defiant teenage girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey), as they travel across the post-apocalyptic United States after he’s been tasked to smuggle her out of a quarantine zone.
In addition to reuniting us with Joel and Ellie, the new trailer introduces us to many newcomers to this universe. Season 2 will also star Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and Catherine O’Hara as Gail, plus Gabriel Luna returning as Tommy.
The Last of Us will return for its second season on HBO on April 13. It will feature seven episodes, airing weekly until May 25.

]]>Based on Naughty Dog’s best-selling video game, The Last of Us follows the journey of hardened survivor Joel (Pedro Pascal), as he tries to smuggle a 14-year-old girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone in the wake of a global pandemic.
The Last of Us premiered on HBO on January 15, and scored its second-biggest debut in over a decade, behind House of the Dragon. The show’s supporting cast includes Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, and Storm Reid.
Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO Programming, announced the show’s renewal in an official statement and said that she can’t wait to watch The Last of Us team outshine themselves again with Season 2.
Craig Mazin, who co-created the series with Neil Druckmann, credited millions of people who have joined them on this journey for its success and thanked them for giving them a chance to continue. Druckmann echoed his words, saying he’s “frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey.”

]]>The Last of Us will take us on a brutal, heartbreaking journey across the U.S., 20 years after the collapse of modern civilization. It will center on a hardened survivor Joel (Pascal), who’s been hired to smuggle a teenage girl Ellie (Ramsey), out of an oppressive quarantine zone.
The Last of Us will feature many more interesting characters, including Joel’s younger brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna), resistance leader Marlene (Merle Dandridge), a rebel in a quarantine zone Perry (Jeffrey Pierce), a smuggler and a fellow survivor Tess (Anna Torv), and Frank and Bill, two survivalists living alone in their isolated town (Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman).
Neil Druckmann, writer and creative director of the original game, co-created the TV adaptation alongside Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). The Last of Us will feature a total of ten episodes and it’s expected to premiere on HBO in early 2023. The first footage was included in HBO Max’s promo video teasing upcoming shows, which also included footage from The Idol and The White Lotus.
