Another BAFTA Awards are behind us, and they took a little bit different approach when compared to other award shows this year. All Quiet on the Western Front was the biggest winner of the night at this ceremony with a total of seven awards, including best picture.

All Quiet may not be a front-runner at other award shows, but it was a clear favorite at the BAFTAs. It came into a night with a total of 14 nods, tying the record for the most-nominated non-English language film in BAFTA’s history, previously held by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

BAFTA voters have shown this anti-war drama a lot of love, awarding it with the best picture trophy. This was only one out of seven awards won by All Quiet, including best director, best adapted screenplay, best cinematography, best original score, best sound, and best film not in the English language.

As far as British movies go, none of them could come even close to The Banshees of Inisherin. Martin McDonagh’s acclaimed tragicomedy was named the outstanding British film and it was one of only two films to walk away with four trophies, along with Elvis.

The 76th British Academy Film Awards were held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 19, with Richard E. Grant and Alison Hammond serving as first-time hosts.

The awards season is slowly nearing its end, and winners are even easier to predict after the BAFTAs on Sunday. Dune topped the list of winners with five awards thanks to its domination in craft categories, but The Power of the Dog eventually walked away with the trophy for best film.

Belfast, Dune, Don’t Look Up, and Licorice Pizza were also in the running for the biggest award of the night, but they couldn’t stand their ground to Jane Campion’s western drama. She also collected the award for the best director, becoming only the third woman in history to do so.

Dune was one of the front-runners at this year’s BAFTAs after topping the list of nominees with 11 nods. It managed to win five of the awards it was nominated for in the craft categories, including best cinematography, production design, special visual effects, sound, and original score.

When it comes to the acting categories, Will Smith cemented his status as the front-runner for best actor after winning another award for King Richard. The best actress category didn’t give us a lot of insight into the future Oscar winner, because it went to the underdog Joanna Scanlan for After Love.

The 75th British Academy Film Awards took place on March 13th at the Royal Albert Hall in London, with Rebel Wilson hosting the ceremony.
