]]>With its hauls from 4,476 North American theaters at an impressive $7 million on Thursday and $31 million and Friday, the live-action remake of the Disney classic is projected to bring in an estimated $109 million over its four-day Memorial Day opening weekend.
According to Variety, Aladdin will be the sixth-highest Memorial Day weekend debut ever, behind 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hauled $110.5 million.
“Fans are absolutely loving the materials they’re seeing for Aladdin, from Will Smith’s performance to the authentic look and feel of the movie, to the soundtrack and its many songs. Like other Disney movies of recent note, there is that element of older ticket buyers sharing their excitement, to be able to share one of their childhood memories on the big screen with their kids and this younger generation.”
The Guy Ritchie-helmed feature stars Mena Massoud as the titular character opposite Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie. Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, and Billy Magnussen also star.
